Timney Triggers Fit Savage 10/110 Series - Nickel

Picked up an old savage 30-06 that looked well worn, blonde hardwood stock. Just the gun to tinker with. Put a muzzle brake on, cleaned and oiled it up. Bore was in great shape. Obviously had been someone's rifle to hunt clean and put away. The trigger was a problem. Problem solved by Timney! Trigger as nice as accu-trigger!

The factory gun had a terrible trigger. I only had $250 in the gun so I did not want to buy a $110+ trigger for it. I was wrong. This trigger transformed the gun from the equivalent of a caveman's club into a modern rifle. With the new trigger I was able to achieve a reload that shot a group of touching holes at 100 yards. It is not as nice as the drop in unit for the Remington 700 which is a mechanical marvel, but it is a very good trigger. This one requires user adjustments where the 700 trigger I just put in and used. I would recommend this trigger, but you must have some mechanical ability. If you hire a plumber every time something breaks don't put in your own trigger. However, if you own tools and routinely fix things this should not be beyond your abilities. I have mine set a little heavy with a little more pull weight and sear engagement than the you tube Timney instructions because I want it to be safe. This is on a hunting gun so it could get dropped and I want it to be safe if that happens. It is both safe and a vast improvement over Savage's savage attempt to make a factory trigger for the pre accutrigger guns. I rate this trigger a strong buy and would not hesitate to put a Timney trigger in any gun with a marginal factory trigger. I did overtighten the action screws and one impinged on the bolt so be aware of that. The fix is a plastic washer between the front action screw head and the stock. The Savage design allows the front action screw to enter the action if it is over tightened and then it impedes the bolt. I emailed Timney with the concern about the stick bolt and they never responded. I had to figure it out myself. I think Timney could have been more responsive and should have easily known about this issue.

What can be said, it's a Timney, Fit and finish are perfect, adjustment simple and precise. The best on the market for the 40+ years I've been shooting, the others are just copies.
