  • Full length bedding block (see cutaway picture)
  • Adjustable butt spacer system to adjust the length of pull
  • Rail and sliding swivel on bottom of forend to attach a bipod
  • Sling swivels on both sides.
  • Will work on Savage Rifles with Bolt Release as part of the Trigger Guard
  • Does NOT fit Axis/Edge
Short Action- Fits the Savage factory short actions (SA) with or without accu-trigger, models 10, 11, 12, 14, 16.
Choose the Centerfeed 4.41" screw spacing if you have the centerfeed magazine. Choose the Detach Mag 4.41" screw spacing if you have a detachable magazine rifle. Choose the 4.27" spacing if you have the original staggerfeed style magazine.

Long Action- Fits the Savage factory Long Action (LA) models 110, 111, 112, 114, 116 with blind bottom magazines and with action screw spacing of 5.062". Does not fit detachable magazine nor hinged floor plate long actions.

Stock fits All Barrel Contours - Since "free floating" of the barrel is preferred on all bolt actions, Choate has set this stock up to fit any barrel including the widest diameter bull barrels. Skinny barrels will have a wide gap between the barrel and the forend but they will shoot accurately from this stock. Be sure to select the correct stock depending on whether you have a Staggerfeed, Centerfeed or Detachable Magazine.

Important Fitting Information - Long Actions have a screw hole spacing of 5.062" and come in Center Feed or Stagger Feed. You must selected the correct stock for your gun. Center Feed is when you remove the action from the stock and the magazine stays in the stock. Stagger Feed is when you remove the action from the stock and the magazine box stays attached to the receiver. Detachable Mag: Will not fit the detachable magazine rifles when the magazine release button is part of the magazine! Will not fit the Savage detachable magazine rifles with the accurate-mag bottom metal that uses the AI magazine. This stock WILL fit detachable magazine rifles with the bolt release located on the bottom of the rifle OR on the top side. Hinged Floorplate: Use detachable mag fitting and screw spacing requirements.
- There will be an 3/16 gap under the safety on all the Savage Varmint, Tactical and Sniper stocks. The action should only touch on the V of the bedding block and back of the recoil lug. The gap at the back is normal for Savage actions when installed in our stocks.

Excellent Stock
This stock is an excellent choice for replacing the light weight factory stock. Installed on a Model 10 that was rebarreled with a heavy 24" barrel. With handloaded 168 gr SMKs, it will now do 1/2 MOA. Very satisfied!

So lets be clear right from the start, this is a $200 stock and you get what you pay for. That being said, this stock is worth the money. The fit on my Savage 110 was pretty good but not perfect. With a little fitting it sets in very nice now. The trigger area need a little dirmel work to fit the guard and take all pressure of the chassis screws but that was an easy task. I did a test fit of the action into the V channel and decided it needed a little lapping for good contact. It does come with the action screws and a cheap plastic trigger guard. If you want a different trigger guard make sure you get the one with the thicker raised front screw hole area or you will be shimming it with flat washers. After installation I went to the range with what I hoped would be a tack driver of a new build. After some load development the gun shot .25moa at 200 yards and I easily walked it out to 1000 yards. I'm not saying the stock was the reason but it sure didn't hurt anything. The cheek risers from the sniper stock will fit right on this thing and, even though not listed, the standard butt spacers fit it too, two very nice options for hardly any money. All things said I'm very pleased with it.

This stock is, in my opinion, an excellent choice for the money. I didn't need all the adjustments available on other models and best of all there were no modifications needed to get it installed. Heavier than the original stock but for bench shooting that's not a negative. I highly recommend this stock.

Sir
Had issues with the action completely bedding into the v-block. Trimmed mag well down, trimmed a notch into the front of the v-block so my tab on my recoil lug would fit, and trimmed a recess for a bolt on the trigger assembly. Still have issues with bolt being tight coming out of the action but it's something I can live with easy fix just need to trim the v-block where thr bolt release it touching but too lazy to do it now that I have the action bolted up. All things considered it was definitely a good purchase for my Steven's 200 in 300 win mag. Huge upgrade from the composite garbage the factory puts on. As far as regidity the stock is rock solid and for 200 bucks you really cant complain much about minor fitment issues. One other thing I can mention is this stock does have a little bit of weight to it so if you're looking for a stock for long range on a budget this would be the way to go. Fore end is heavy enough to keep muzzle rise and bipod jump to a minimum and behind the buttpad is hollow so you can play with the weight of the rifle to an extent.

Excellence as usual!
This is my 3rd Choate stock. First one for a Savage. The price is pretty reasonable considering the improvement over the factory stock it replaced. The barrel channel is large. It runs straight from the action to the forend giving about a quarter inch gap on either side of a bull barrel. I do have one small gripe. The sling studs rattle. Same as my other Choate stocks. I might try a spring or maybe a spring washer to quiet them. Probably not a problem unless you are using it for hunting. I am using this with a 26 X-Caliber barrel..875 at the muzzle. Looks nice and shoots awesome . Very satisfied

Outstanding addition to my Savage model 11. Had bottom metal installed by CDI precision to add a detachable 10 round box mag. Great fit, function, and looks great. Would buy another one in a heartbeat for next bolt action rifle build.

Great stock for my money
Got my Savage 12 FV .223 Rem fitted into the stock this afternoon. It's a welcome change over the cheap plastic stock that Savage and Cabela's put on an awesome action. Fitting the magazine body into the stock took a little doing (A couple of whacks with a gunsmith mallet got 'er done), but the overall fit is excellent. The gap between the stock and the rear tang was noticeable, but not a real issue. The feel of the stock is great, but I do wish that Choate would include a couple extra buttpad spacers for out-of-the box adjustability. So far, no issues, and I'm not crying over the cost of another aftermarket stock.

With the muzzle break and the new stock it thumps as hard as; if not less than a magnum 22 in a synthetic stock.

I just dropped in my Savage 12 in 6.5 Creedmore and this stock really changed the feel of the gun. The larger grip and adjustable bipod mount are great. I was first a bit leery about the stiffness and quality of this stock because of the price but no worries….great value…I will buy again….

Very happy with this stock. Using it with my Savage 16 in .243 with a 30 Criterion Bull Barrel. After I put this gun together the next week I used it to win the 300/500yard Open. 298-14X A decent score with the wind we had.

Ergonomics
Easy to install and fit perfectly on my Savage 12FV 223, replacing the factory 'tupperware' stock. The LOP is 13 with a quarter inch and half inch spacer already installed, so I called Choate and ordered a couple of three quarter inch spacers. With that I will be able to mix and match the spacers to get the perfect LOP. I shoot bench rest. On a good day I could put 10 shots in a 2 group at 200 yards with 69 gr. match ammo, so this stock may not improve accuracy, but just from handling the gun after installation I can tell the beefy vertical grip and notched stock butt improve the ergonomics. The added weight complements the heavy barrel and the reinforced fore end provides stability for addition of a bipod. Nice that a bipod adaptor comes with the stock.

This is a very strong stock with aluminum embedded from the bedding blocks forward. When I trial fit my receiver and barrel there was a gap under the area of the safety. When looking forward I could see the mechanism through this gap. I know this a free float stock and you do not want any contact but this looked pretty bad .Also I figured that dirt and anything else could fall in there. I added filler and did a lot of re-shaping around the safety area. It just did not fit well there. The bolt lever would not fully lock, so I had to file the notch to add more angle. Everything else about this product is impressive, especially for the price. The fit and finish needs some work around the safety and bolt area. The bipod mount holds a sling mount that travels on a recessed aluminum channel. It works perfectly and you can simply loosen your bipod tension and slide it where you like. The recoil pad is the best I've seen.

Mr.
I was looking to replace the factory stock on a Savage 12FV. Found this mentioned on the SavageShooters message board. Most reviews said very strong, no flex, solid free float system but heavy. I found all this to be true and since this rifle will be primarily shot from the bench the weight is ideal. Great stock, like the large grip, adjustable length of pull and quality recoil pad.
